Truckle

The word, truckle originally meant to sleep in a truckle bed or trundle as it’s called today. Those that slept in a truckle bed were often servants and occupied the lower position. The word truckle means to be submissive, to fawn, or to curry favor by flattery. It is often followed by its collocate to, such as “truckle to another country’s demands.”
